According to various data, the number of people who inject drugs exceeds 300 000 persons. Addiction to drugs is a problem turning into a tragedy both for the affected individuals and their families.
Individual civil society initiatives do not solve all the problems. The statistics of people who inject drugs demonstrate the need for an effective comprehensive approach.
An online discussion “A drug trap: How to help the families of drug users” was held on December 22. The participating experts were Maksym Butkevych, expert of the REAct system in Ukraine; Tetiana Koshova, President, Charitable Fund “Hope and Trust”, the NationalHotline on drug addiction and OST operator; Volodymyr Kurach, Head, Center of addiction treatment “TACTICS”, civil society activist.
The activity was held in relation to the screening of the movie “The Little Samdi” in the DOCUSPACE online cinema on the agenda of the 18th Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.
